| | | | | | "Lucky Seven" And Others Need Your Love!
| Just a cute litter of chocolate lab pups, right? Not really. They were in the Jasper Animal Control facility with their mom, hoping to find a foster family. Being very young, the pups risk getting sick and dying if they weren't rescued. Fortunately, another group was able to step in since LOLIN had no foster space available. Everyday, Purebred Labs and Lab mixes are put down in shelters across the Midwest. It is up to rescue groups, like Love of Labs, to pull as many of these dogs as possible and the only way we are able to do that is through foster homes. Our ability to help these dogs is limited to the number of foster homes we have. Love of Labs provides it foster homes with all veterinary care and necessary supplies for your foster dog. All we need from you is dog food and a loving home. There are an endless number of dogs in need, and by opening your home and your heart, you are changing a dog’s life and your own! Find out more>> |
| Dakota's In The Spotlight
| Hi, I'm Dakota, otherwise known as Cody or Daddy Long Legs. I sure am a tall and stately looking gentleman if I do say so myself! I am a well behaved boy who loves to fetch and play with rope pulls. When I'm not playing, I like nothing better than laying in the sunshine, no matter how hot it is. As for being in the house, I am crate trained, but my foster mom lets me roam free in the house when she's gone because I am a very good boy on my own. I would rather sleep in the bed with my foster mom, but am happy to sleep in my own bed beside hers. I have beautiful eyes that will melt your heart. I am sweet boy who just wants to be loved. Please share my info with your friends and family - one of them is bound to be looking for a great dog like me! Find out more>> |
| From Our Blog - Tucker Is Home
| The Gentry Family writes: "I've been a long time volunteer for Love of Labs, starting with the adoption of our first LOLIN lab Sophie almost five years ago (her story is actually posted in this blog in December of 2010). We lost Sophie earlier this year in a shocking and heartbreaking emergency surgery. We knew that the best way to honor the memory of a beloved rescued dog is to rescue another dog in need. This is how we came to be Tucker's family. Tucker (fka Howdy and pictured with Allie) came to LOLIN from a high kill shelter in KY. He was heartworm positive too, just to add to his troubles. His time ran out at the shelter so LOLIN and our fabulous intake coordinator Kathy actually split his boarding costs for over two weeks at a kennel before he could be moved into an open foster home. His foster home knew of our loss and thought he would be a good fit for our family and asked if we would like to come meet him. The rest is history! He has gone a long way to helping us heal from losing Sophie. He's an amazing dog all on his own and we love him very much. Tucker is just one more in a long line of examples of the amazing dogs that would not be here to provide families like ours with joy and love if rescue organizations, foster homes, and adopters didn't work together to give them this second chance." Do you have a wonderful story to share of your adopted lab? Tell the LOLIN Community all about it. The best stories are those that come from you! We've made it easy to submit your stories and photos (once at the blog, you'll see the "submit your story and photos" link at the top right of the blog), so check it out today! Visit our blog>> |
